Ua ʻōlelo ka Makaula SAW “There are no days that are greater before Allah or in which good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these ten days, so recite a great deal of tahleel, takbeer and tahmeed during them.” [Ahmad, 7/224]

The days of dhul Hijjah are now almost upon us, and this is a time when we should increase in our worship to our Lord as has been commanded to us. During these 10 days, the sunnah is to recite the following as much as possible:

Takbeer: Allahu akbar – God is most great

Tahmeed: Al-hamdu LillahAll praises be to God

Tahleel: Laa ilaha ill-Allah -There is no god but Allah

Tasbeeh: Subhaan-AllahGlory be to God

One is also permitted to recite the takbeer as follows (ʻoiaʻiʻo):

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allah, WAllahu akbar, wa Lillaah il-hamd.

Which translates as: ʻO Allah ka Mea Nui, ʻO Allah ka Mea Nui, there is no god but Allah; Allah is Most Great and to Allah be praise.

Whatever you do, don’t forget your remembrance of Allah during the coming days of Dhul Hijjah, and don’t forget to make dua for yourself and your brothers and sisters around the world who are suppressed.
